Sad to hear that Super Kev has been released today, thought we would of at least offered him a coaching role at the club.
Sad to see him leave but I can see why he may not of even wanted to stay.

Sad to see him go- criminally underused and the best stiker in the club by many country miles.

He said he had other options on the interview on Talksport on Monday and was 90% he would leave. All the best Super Kev....given us fans so much pleasure watching a craftsman at work.

We can not be relying on him next year, and I imagine his wages are big enough. Noot too disappointed in him being released.

True, but it's time to move on. He will be 38 next season and we need younger, quicker players. A great goalscorer, but I don't think he offers enough now to the team.

He was absolutely rubbish against Fulham, but could still score a few in the championship.

What's the betting he goes to another championship club and scores against us, it's almost 100% guaranteed!

Will he continue playing football or not just retire and take up a full time position with Sky Sports.

Is that official ?
Kevin Philips leaving? The only natural finisher we have is being allowed to leave. My word old Alex don't like natural skills does he. Oh well, perhaps he's got his eye on an Ethiopian marathon runner, he'll run for all the game, put a shift in and do one for the dressing room.

I think we need to go for Naughton or Clyne. Keep Carr for one season and he'll be a good understudy for a young RB

Sorry mate but you are just stirring.

If you really think we should be relying on a 38 year old to get us promotion next season then I despair.

Best striker on our books last season. By far. (Not stirring BTW- just expressing a deeply held conviction)

How do you work out that to be McLeish's doing? The board clearly want to clear a load off the wage list, and I am sure we need a few more younger strikers with energy, Phillips just wasn't good enough in the prem, and I am sure we will find a striker and/or use Asante and still bag a few in the championship.

Not surprised by this at all, said on last day of season it was time for him to move on and Blues to do likewise.

As a club Blues are not going to move forward based on 38 year old players however fit they feel. A young healthy partnership up front is what we need possibly a Bothroyd & Jerome with wingers pacey emough to keep up with the play and swinging in crosses. I believe this is possible with Beausejour and someone like Eagles on the flanks. Put Gardner and Ferguson/Mutch in the middle and we have the makings of a decent frontline and attacking midfield to back it up.

As good as a natural finisher he is we have to move on at some point because of his age, yet I still think he would have been a good player to bring on in the Championship. Hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

No, he was the best finisher on our books, which is something different.

When he was in the right place, at the right time, he was deadly, but his ability to do that, has been diminished in recent years.

Personally I'd have kept him, but how much he'd have had to offer, despite his instance to the contrary, is up for question.

Zigic: 8 goals from 34 apps (16 as sub) = 1 per 4.25 apps
Phillips: 4 from 20 (11 as sub) = 1 per 5 apps
Derbyshire: 3 from 20 apps (11 as sub) = 1 per 6.66 apps
Jerome: 5 from 42 apps (7 as sub) = 1 per 8.50 apps

How do you work out that to be McLeish's doing? T

because he has been here nearly 4 season. It is his MO - players ability to run, run, run, put in a shift and do one for the dressing room. Flair, skills and natural talent are not really essential-----why do you think we have been so boring all this time.

Oh you mean about his past decisions with him - I don't think he's up to the prem games tbh, he has done brilliant in the Cups but the prem games he hasn't performed, the championship would have been perfect for him.

The only Blues player of late that you ever had the feeling that he was going to score when on the pitch.

Criminally underused, this season especially - could have made the difference.

Best of luck.
